As we all know by now. Yorkshire is brilliant, Yorkshire is the best and WE LOVE YORKSHIRE! This might be a biased opinion but people around the world should also find Yorkshire as being God’s own county. You know… after everything we’ve done for them. Here are 7 Things that Yorkshire Gave the World.
1. The National Railway Museum
The National Railway Museum in York is the largest railway museum in the world – it’s free too! Furthermore, it’s home to only Japanese bullet train that is not in Japan. Now you know where you can see one!
2. Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is used everyday by used everyone all around the world. It was discovered in Sheffield, 1913, by Harry Brearley. After that, Sheffield was later known as the cityfor stainless steel production.
3. Bonfire Night
Guy Fawkes of the Gunpowder Plot was born and raised in York. This alone is not something to be proud of, but without him, we wouldn’t celebrate his downfall on Bonfire Night!
4. Chocolate !!!
Yorkshire, York, is home to many famous chocolate companies. KitKat, Chocolate Orange and obviously the Yorkie bar.
5. Music.
Yorkshire is home to many famous musicians… Mel B, Ed Sheeran and the Kaiser chiefs – just to name a few.
6. The Yorkshire Pudding.
The most important and valuable thing on the list. The first recorded recipe was written in 1737. The recipe consists of egg, flour and milk and has become a stable part of our Sunday dinners.
7. The ‘Three Peak Challenge’
The mountains of Yorkshire – Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – are often climbed for charity. They are often climbed in that order as well.
