We all like to treat our mums. A meal out to her favourite restaurant, a spa day or a walk in the park with afternoon tea. But sometimes, it’s nice to think outside the box and give her a really memorable experience. We’ve found some of the most unusual or original mother’s day events across the county that are sure to put a smile on her face!
Mother’s Day Flower Class, Leeds
Something that’s creative, useful and perfect if your mum is a green thumb. Serendipity Floral Designs are hosting a workshop where you create your own floral display, and take it home with you afterwards. All materials are supplied and refreshments are included, so you won’t need to bring anything at all!
The workshop is scheduled for the 30th March (the day before mothers day).
Mother’s Day Roast, Sheffield
Nothing beats a Roast Dinner on a Sunday. Even better when you don’t have to cook it! The Mowbray in Sheffield are promising a day of indulgent feasting with plenty of speciality food and drink. There’s also a menu for the little’uns!
Mother’s Day Perfume-Making Class
Yorkshire Artspace (based at Exchange Place Studios) will be running a perfume-making workshop with Michael Borkowsky, a fine art perfumer. Michael will provide an expert demonstration in the art of Eau De toilette before supporting you through making your own. Perfect for creative mums who like to do things a little differently!
Mother’s Day TLC Package, Doncaster
If you really want to pamper your mam, take her down to Mercure Doncaster Centre at the Danum Hotel. They’re offering a spa package that comes with afternoon tea and refreshments, perfect for catching up and relaxing all day long!
Mother’s Day Fashion Tea, York
For the fashionistas! Project You and Thimbelina of York are promising a fantastic day of catwalk shows and afternoon tea, as well as teaching you how to find new styles from your existing wardrobe.
Mother’s Day Chocolatada, York
According to York Cocoa Works, a ‘Chocolatada’ is a kind of chocolate-based social party that far predates the tea party! On Mothering Sunday, they are hosting a number of these parties at their newest manufactory, the York Cocoa Works on Castlegate. Some time slots are already fully-booked though, so make reservations soon!
